Watertightness tests on roof skylights

01.10.2026

We have moved the testing of strip skylights in accordance with EN 14963 to the new indoor facilities at our Construction Testing Laboratory. This allows us to conduct watertightness tests regardless of weather conditions.

The test simulates the effects of rain or melting snow on the outer surface of a strip skylight. The entire test surface is wetted with water for 60 minutes using a grate with nozzles. The inner surface of the skylight is then inspected. The skylight passes the watertightness test if not a single drop of water appears on the inner surface.

The new indoor facilities primarily offer greater flexibility in planning tests and the ability to conduct them year-round, without restrictions caused by outdoor temperatures, rain, snow, or other weather conditions.
