Relocation of part of ATL 1004 - Physical Laboratory from the Central Laboratories of Louky Zlín to the workplace in the Svit 113th building

Dear clients. As of 09.11.2020, part of ATL 1004 - Physical Laboratory was completely relocated from the central laboratories of Louky Zlín to the ITC workplace in the Svit 113th building, Zlín. COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) 2020/1245 of 2nd September 2020 amending and correcting Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food entered into force on 23rd September 2020

This regulation has significantly changed the scope of evaluation of elements and primary aromatic amines and the way of evaluation of articles for repeated use – HERE you can find more information. ITC labs are already prepared to test and evaluate the articles according to new rules.

new ICP spectrometer in ITC labs

Analytical laboratory has recently purchased new ICP spectrometer Agilent 5800. The spectrometer is intended for determination of elements in water solutions, leachates and mineralisates. It is used mainly for evaluation of food-contact materials, products for children, material analysis of plastics, rubbers and metals. Spectrometer can be also used for determination of elements, which are limited in electro-products by RoHS 3 directive. High sensitivity enable evaluation of products according to many national and European legislations.  


DETERMINATION OF INDIVIDUAL ORGANIC COMPOUNDS (VOC) AND IDENTIFICATION OF THE EMITTED COMPOUNDS BY GC-MS/FID

In autumn 2019 our laboratory of analytical chemistry purchased gas chromatograph Shimadzu GCMS QP 2020 NX with mass spectromecter and flame ionization detector, which is used for analysis of emission of organic substances (VOC) mainly for automotive materials.

Determination of VOC by this method meets the requirements:
- VW 50180 (CLP classification of VOC emission in accordance with Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 included)
- PV 3341
- VDA 277
- VCS 1027,2759


Laboratory is on the List of accepted service laboratories by the VW Group for test according to PV 3341!

Trade Fair AMPER 2020 - cancellation

The effective energy management is a trend, which gradually crosses from the category of “business advantage” to the category of “necessary requirement of the age”. The “energy management” is a summary of all activities, which search for areas with significant energy consumption, monitor the energy intensity and optimize it using system tools. The energy management can have immediate results in the shape of cost savings for energy consumption; however, its long-term contribution is more significant. The ISO 50001 standard comprises a summary of requirements whose fulfilment results in constant increase in energy efficiency in the organization and thereby in improvement of the competitive position on the market.

BASIC PRINCIPLES OF ISO 50001

In 2011, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) issued the new international standard ISO 50001 – Energy management systems. This standard provides a methodology based on a structure of requirements resulting in decrease in the energy intensity of the organization and continuous increase in its energy efficiency. The system is based on a complete overview of consumptions of all main and additional equipments (buildings, technologies etc.), improvement of consumption monitoring during all activities and determination of energy utilizability and consumption limits for the most important energy applications.

ČSN EN ISO 50001 Energy management systems is compatible with ISO 9001 and especially with ISO 14001. Therefore the energy management system can be implemented independently or also through an existing environmental management system or quality management system.

REVISION OF ISO 50001

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has completed a revision of the ISO 50001 standard. The new version of ISO 50001:2018 was released on 20 August 2018 and a three-year transition period has been provided for implementing the standard in companies, i.e. the standard should be implemented by 20 August 2021. Validity of certificates issued according to the Standard ISO 50001:2011 is set as well – the longest term till August 20, 2021.

Due to the situation with the occurrence of COVID -19, it is possible to postpone the transition to the new version of the standard by 6 months, term till February 20, 2022 (see: https://iaffaq.com/).


The certification, surveillance and recertification of management systems according to ISO 50001:2011 will run no longer than February 20, 2020. Due to the limitation of certificates issued under ISO 50001:2011, we recommend that all applicants for certification and recertification begin to timely plan the implementation of ISO 50001:2018 requirements into their energy management system.

SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN REVISION OF ISO 50001

  • unification of the chapters of the Standard according to Annex SL (i.e. the same structure as ISO 9001: 2015 and ISO 14001: 2015);
  • placed a stronger emphasis on the role of top management;
  • updating definitions of some terms, adopting new definitions, including definitions for energy performance management;
  • added details on the energy data collection plan and related requirements (previously this was known as the “energy measurement plan“);
  • introduced the concept of normalization of energy performance indicators [EnPl(s)] and associated energy baselines [EnB(s)].

CERTIFICATION PROCESS

  • The certification procedure has the following basic phases
  • processing of documentation (applicant)
  • introduction of the management system into practice
  • application for certification (applicant)
  • certification by the accredited certification body
  • assessment and registration of the client's application to the certification
  • completion of a contract on certification audit execution (the certification audit runs in two phases)
  • auditor team determination
  • audit plan processing
  • verification of facts in phases:
    • a) client's documentation review
    • b) analysis of facts on the site
  • report elaboration on the certification audit result
  • assessment of the audit report by the certification body
  • issue of the certificate
  • surveillance audit  
    • o the surveillance audit is done once a year during the three-year period of validity of the certificate. Based on the result of the surveillance a decision on the verification of validity of the certificate is issued, which is valid until the next surveillance or decision on suspension of the certificate. In the event that there are major nonconformities from the requirements of the standards, the certificate may be withrawn in extreme cases.
  • recertification audit
    • To ensure continuous validity of certification, a recertification audit should take place based on the certificate holder’s decision in the third year before expiration of the certificate’s validity.

IQNET – international certificate

Institute for Testing and Certification is a member of the CQS, which is a member of the international network IQNet. Through this co-operation, it is possible to issue upon request both the ITC certificate and the CQS certificate and the internationally recognized IQNet certificate within the framework of a single certification process.
