New method for determination of organometallic complexes

Our analytical laboratory has implemented new method for determination of organometallic complexes (i.e. alkyl mercury) by cation chromatography, coupled to ICP-MS detection. This group of substances is represented for example by Trimerosal, used as fungicide or fungistatic agent. Such a substances can be limited for example in vaccines or contact lens solutions. Laboratory of building materials has introduced new test device for test according to EN 1062-7 for “Determination of crack bridging properties”. On this device also another tests of paints, varnishes, coating materials and coating systems can be performed, list of standards is attached in this note. contact: rmikac@itczlin.cz


Food contact materials - Mineral oils MOSH and MOAH determination in packaging:

With respect to the clients requests the new method was developed in ITC laboratories - Mineral oils MOSH and MOAH determination in packaging. Aromatic mineral oils (MOAH) are considered by EFSA as potentially carcinogenic and are given high attention now. Limit values for migration were published on a national basis by German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR). the Regulation (EU) 2017/745 of the European Parliament and of the Council on medical devices


On May 5, 2017 the Regulation (EU) 2017/745 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 April 2017 on medical devices, amending Directive 2001/83/EC, Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 and Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 and repealing Council Directives 90/385/EEC and 93/42/EEC was published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. It shall apply from 26 May 2020. By way of derogation, see the Article 123 Entry into force and date of application.

Regulation (EU) 2017/746 of the European Parliament and of the Council on in vitro diagnostic medical devices


On May 5, 2017 the Regulation (EU) 2017/746 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 April 2017 on in vitro diagnostic medical devices and repealing Directive 98/79/EC and Commission Decision 2010/227/EU was published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. It shall apply from 26 May 2022. By way of derogation, see the Article 113 Entry into force and date of application.

ITC applied the restriction by which it will not be possible to deliver the electronic message with an attachment in ZIP format.



For delivery of large quantities of electronic documents, use a different method than compress into ZIP format.

Testing of Collectors according to ISO 9806


The testing standard for thermal solar collectors with liquid medium, EN 12975-2, has been was replaced with the new standard EN ISO 9806. The new standard reflects the latest development in production and testing of collectors.

Since it is not only a European standard, but an ISO one, it constitutes an important step towards unifying the examining and certification of collectors around the world (which showed some different requirements and methods), and the globalization of their market.

ITC laboratory gained, within its re-accreditation procedure, an accreditation for the new standard. Now it is therefore able to examine collectors completely both for their certification (the lab has been recognized for testing for SOLAR KEYMARK certifications) and for internal needs of manufacturers and other clients.

nanotechnology - the analytical laboratory of ITC engage in cooperation with the Technical University of Dresden


The analytical laboratory of ITC engage in cooperation with the Technical University of Dresden in the project " nanotechnology – guidance on detection and identification of nano-objects in complex matrixes", which is demanded by the French Bureau of Standards (Association Francaise de Normalisation).

The aim of this theoretical work is charting of available, missing and emerging techniques for measuring the presence of nano-particles in difficult matrixes combined with their identification. The final document will be used for standardization purpose and give guidance for measurements at the nano-scale.

The analytical laboratory at ITC has also techniques for measuring of nanoparticle dimensions with electron microscopy and by use of single-particle ICP-MS the laboratory is able to count and size nanoparticles. In this area we have already realized commercial contracts for dimensional measurement and counting distribution of nanoparticles in different matrices.

CPR - Extension of the notification for assessment and verification of constancy of performance of construction products


New notification was issued by the Decision No. ÚNMZ 25/2013-CPR, which extends the mandate for assessment and verification of constancy of performance of construction products pursuant to Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) No 305/2011 (CPR). The new competency covers the following product groups: hydraulic road binders, asphalt roofing, structural adhesives / binders and adhesives, sealing materials for exterior walls, insulation materials for glass surfaces, sealants for sanitary joints, sealing materials for floor surface, sealing materials for non-structural use in buildings and floor surface and relating conformity assessment procedures.

ITC is a SOLAR KEYMARK Certification Body


On 30 Sept 2013 ITC signed an agreement with COSMT (as a national representative of CEN) and got hereby a SOLAR KEYMARK Certification Body. SOLAR KEAMARK is a voluntary quality mark for solar thermal collectors.

Certified products have to be regularly tested and the manufacturer’s factory production control system is also inspected. The certificate thus gives a high degree of guarantee of the product’s parameters and the quality of manufacture. ITC is SOLAR KEYMARK Certification Body No 032 and the first one in Czechia.

New laboratory service – determination of 4-nonylphenol ethoxylates in products in accordance with requirements of REACH


The list of SVHC substances (Substances of Very High Concern) published in accordance with Article 59(10) of the REACH Regulation (on the Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of CHemicals) was amended in June 2013. The group substance “4-nonylphenol, branched and linear, ethoxylated” belongs to the new candidate substances.

This substance can be found in many materials including plastic packaging and textiles and sometimes the secondary contamination of the products by this substance can appear.   In the case  of food contact products made from plastics that are excluded from scope of REACH nonylphenol ethoxylates and nonylphenol cannot be detectable at all.
Due to this fact ITC analytical laboratory developed two methods for “nonylphenol” and “4-nonylphenol ethoxylates”  determination – GC-MS and/or LC-MS.
